In the middle of a country that almost sits at the center of the globe lies an island that is a world unto itself. Cebu is a tropical paradise whose Old World charm and cosmopolitan character make it one of the world’s most noteworthy destinations. In 2017, Cebu was ranked as the second best island in the world by the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards. In the same year, it was also deemed as the second friendliest island in the world by the readers of Travel + Leisure, the distinguished New York-based travel magazine.
Located in Central Visayas, the Province of Cebu consists of a main island and 167 surrounding islands and islets. Its capital is Cebu City, the oldest city and first capital of the Philippines.
The province of Cebu has three independent cities (Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, and Mandaue) that are not under provincial supervision but are grouped with the province for geographical and statistical purposes, six component cities (Bogo, Carcar, Danao, Naga, Talisay, and Toledo), and 44 municipalities.
At the home of southern Cebu’s famous whale shark watching destination, Oslob, paragliding is a new extreme air sports added to its inventory of tourist attractions. A fair amount of PhP 3,500 affords you to do a 10-20-minute paragliding tandem flight.
His passion for change, for a better place for all, has not wavered, though, so that he is still regularly trudging the same mountain he used to roam around when he was in the revolutionary movement, but for a different purpose.
HELD under the watchful eye of former Department of Tourism-7 director and Cebu Provincial Government consultant Dawnie Roa who was among the guests, the Suroy-Suroy Sugbu Southern Adventure last January 25-27, 2019 concluded with guests praising the event, which pushed through despite the intermittent rain all throughout the three-day activity.
AFTER undergoing a trainor’s training and another on management planning in the last two years, representatives from seven local government units of Cebu successfully hurdled module three (ecotourism business planning) of the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office’s Ecotourism Management Planning (EMP) project.
