There is more to Balamban town than its famous liempo, or to its shipbuilding, ship-wrecking industry. What used to be a sleepy, backwater municipality in this mid-western portion of Cebu is now a bustling and briskly growing town.

There are now a lot of places to go to, with the opening of the Transcentral Highway also spurring the mushrooming of numerous establishments along its 33-kilometer stretch. Snaking its way up the mountains from Busay in Cebu City to Prenza in Balamban, the highway provided a comfortable and shorter way to reach this historical town.
